Rose-Breasted Grosbeak

Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks are migratory birds that return to Michigan around May 1st. They will stay until at least the middle of fall. The males are very distinguished, looking almost like they are wearing a tuxedo with a big red heart in the front! The females are different shades of brown with a bold lighter stripe over the eye. Juveniles start out looking like the females, but as they mature, the males start to gain their black, red, and white feathers. The are very closely related to the Northern Cardinals.
