White-Breasted Nuthatch

White-Breasted Nuthatches are small tree-scaling birds with a long, pointed beak. You will often see them upside-down on the trunks of trees, looking for insects in the bark. These birds are frequently seen at the feeders around here. The males and females are difficult to distinguish but if you look closely, the females have a more greyish colored head rather than the solid black like the males. They are in this area year-round.
