Dark-Eyed Junco

Dark-Eyed Juncos are in the Sparrow family. The Juncos that live in this area are usually the Slate colored. They are grey to slate colored on top with white bellies. They have a pink, flesh-colored beak. They spend most of their time foraging for food on the ground, but will usulaly start visiting the feeders once the ground is covered in snow. These birds live around here for about half the year, arriving in about October and heading north around the end of April.
